This challenge was kind of hard for me. I wanted to do a photo of something that would characterize Orlando in general,or my feelings about Orlando in general. Unfortunately, they were all kind of negative so I didn't want to bring anybody down. Now I know everyone is probably thinking "Wow, Orlando is beautiful" and you are probably recalling fond memories of Disney, but Disney is actually in Kissimmee and we who live here really consider that a seperate world. Orlando is a vast, sprawling, cheaply constructed real estate development machine with high taxes, horrible traffic and low services. The picture that I wanted to capture is some peaceful cows in a bright green field with white egrets nearby....and a big yellow backhoe in the background ready to start construction. That would pretty much sum it up! With that said, there is a picture of my house which is for sale, and then some of the (very nice) scenes from my immediate neighborhood and the park at the end of the street. We do a lot of socializing here in Florida and we don't really celebrate Memorial Day or Labor Day because every weekend is a party as my husband and our friend, Rob will tell you!

I love the first shot with the chair. All yout pictures are really nice though.
Jenn- It is beautiful there. Where are you off to next?
Pictures are great, love the life guard chair and hope to copy it in LBI next week!
It is beautiful from your photos, but I suppose looks are deceiving. Sounds like you feel about your neighbourhood as I feel about mine. Hope your house sells for you quickly!
man, these are beautiful jenn! so much color, really love the lake shots and that lifeguard chair, and so nice to see a pic of hubby too!
Wow Jenn....thanks for telling it as it is ...warts and all! LOL! These are beautiful pictures....are you moving far?
You did a fantastic job of showing Orlando in a postive way! Love the canal and the reeds! Not sure as I would want to go swimming there though, aren't there gators? What I remember about that area is Ocala but then it isn't close to Orlanda but the beautiful Horse farms. I know the Orlando airport was pretty, lol...Flew in there several times!! Good luck selling your home! Beautiful photo!
Thanks for the comments guys! There are plenty of gators but kids in FL grow up pretty much not afraid. They really don't bother you much unless it's mating season (May). The stories you hear on the news about bites are usually associated with booze or kids feeding them.My husband wants to move to Australia but we will probably move to a smaller town west of Orlando. The housing market is VERY slow here so I don't have a lot of hope. Ocala is beautiful and not over developed (yet) but there are not a lot of jobs there.I work at Disney on Sunday nights doing caricatures so if anyone is visiting let me know!
Gorgeous photos!!!!! I just love the first one with the chair!!!!!! Great job on the challenge this week!!!!
Love your take on Orlando!! I have a visual without even looking at your awesome shots. It sounds like you are having fun though!!
Laura
Orlando sounds a lot like my city here in So Cal.
